Phonics

Watch the PowerPoint that I put on and practise all the sounds. Continue to use the set 2 stretchy sounds booklet. This week we are concentrating only on the ee sound. In the booklet work through pages 6 and 7.

Literacy

In the story, Norman lands on a washing line and he used a pair of underwear to help him fly. Think of other places and things that he might have landed on. What else could he use? Draw and write about your idea.

Maths

Using and understanding positional language. There are six activities on this sheet however they do not all need to be completed. They may well cross over with each other and talking with your child will produce lots of the language.

Joke:

Larry: What's a slug?

Moe: I don't know.

Larry: A snail with a housing problem!

Watch Jasper’s Beanstalk

How are slugs and snails similar / different?

Explain that today we are going to be finding out more about slugs and snails. Look through the Slug and Snail Fact Cards or the Slug and Snail Information PowerPoint with the children.

Relate the information to the story of ‘Jasper’s Beanstalk’ where possible, for example, that Jasper is removing the slugs and snails so that they don’t eat his plant and that he goes out at night as snails and slugs are largely nocturnal. Give the children the opportunity to share their own experiences and their existing knowledge of slugs and snails as you look through the information.

Can talk about some of the things they have observed such as plants, animals, natural and found objects.

Jasper's Beanstalk

description

These are pictures of Brian, Miss James African Land Snail. He is 10 years old, which according to Miss James is quite old. At the moment Brian is supposed to be hibernating.Miss James has put him in a bath to see if he will wake up.  I have also added a little video of Brian that she sent to me.

Three videos that Miss James sent for you to watch. This is hot of the press. The last video she promises is not in slow motion. Enjoy. A big thank you to Miss James.
