Homework and Spellings

Maths homework will be sent out on a Friday and there will be up to 10 spellings to practise that we will look at in our RWI sessions on a Wednesday.

The spellings will be words that we have been looking at during our Read, Write, Inc sessions. They will follow a spelling rule or pattern, for example: prefixes/words with the 'ch' sound/ suffixes/ homophones etc. We will also look at the Year 3/4 words each week during these RWI sessions.

There will not be a spelling test as such, instead, the children will be tested through their application of the spellings using word searches, crosswords, word games and other activities that can also be found on the Spelling Bingo sheet.  During the first RWI session of the week (Wednesday) there will also be a 'Speed Spell' section where the children will be asked to write down 6 of the words they have practised. (This will act as the spelling test) New words will then be added below for the current focus for the week. Feel free to stick their spellings into their homework books so we can see that they have been practising them.

Maths homework will be consolidating what we have been learning in Maths that week to give you an idea of what your child has been learning and to allow them the opportunity to apply these skills.

Please do not hesitate to speak to me if there is a problem with your child's homework. If you require paper copies please let me know and I will make sure your child has them to bring home.
