Phonics
Today you need to watch the PowerPoint that I put on and practise all the sounds. Continue to use the set 2 stretchy sounds booklet. This week we are concentrating only on the oo sound. In the booklet work through page 20.
Literacy
Today we are talking about similes like those that the Author Jeanne Willis used in this week’s story. Try and find the examples in the story where the author is describing the Bog Baby and read them with your adult. We use similes when we want to say that something is LIKE something else. For example:
wings like daisy petals
ears like a mouse
round like a frog
soft as jelly
Talk with your adult about other things that might be compared to something else. Now look at your worksheet and decide which word fits the best to complete the sentence.
Maths
Day 5 The very busy spider. There is a variety of activities that can be completed in relation to the story. You don’t have to complete them all. Choose the ones you think are easier to complete at home.
UtW/PD/EAD/PSED
Could you draw a map of the journey to Bluebell woods in the story? Where did the story start? What did the girls do? Who did they say they were going to see?
Make a Lego Bog Baby following the instruction cards, can you make a bigger one than one on the cards. Take a picture and send it in.
Reading
Owls and Dinosaurs - You should be able to read lots of these words (this can be read throughout the week). Should develop confidence and fluency.
